Kullu,
Mandi and Hoshiarpur - all these districts
have flourishing agriculture and horticulture,
but there is always a scope of improvement
so that with better techniques and proper
crop care, the farmers can have betterand
higher yields.
HRI has organized extension
camps for farmers with the help of government
horticulturists. Main emphasis of horticulture
programs is to teach the farmer better and
proper farming methods and how best to increase
their farm and orchards' yields.
They were also taught
alternate cropping procedures.
Thanks to these Horticulture
efforts, the earnings from each acre and
the fruit quality and output has gone up
tremendously.
HRI has several plans
in future for the farmers of Himachal, Uttranchal,
and Punjab
- Include more farmers
in alternate cropping to increase their
earnings.
- Setup up a processing
plant for the community so that they can
process their crops themselves and earn
more.
- Set up marketing mechanism
and infrastructure, which would bring
buyers to their door step.
- And to take their produce
to big markets outside H.P. in order to
avoid the middleman.
Conducting
Special Camps in Bee Keeping
(Contributing to sustainable growth and
development)
